Just another update

First off, there is a new picture in the picture section. Odd place to put it no?

The other update, is a food update. I up until yesterday I was having a lot of issues finding edible food. A "Japanese" restaurant I went to simply served Thai food, Salmon or "Sake" in Nigiri Sushi, and California rolls. They had Gyoza though, so I had two orders of those.

After that I didn’t eat for two days, I could not find anything appetizing. Then my traveling partner and I went to a very nice Chinese restaurant in the hotel we were staying in, and we ordered some food. I had some unpleasant beef, some dry rice, and the soy sauce... seemed very un-soy like... and wasn’t much of a sauce either. She had Broccoli, which she enjoyed, and that was that, we paid, and left.

Up in our room later, we were enjoying a quiet night of American action movies in English, with a fuzzy picture and Thai subtitles. Did you know in Thailand they block out things in movies like guns and cigarettes? But you know what, it only once in a very long while, and it seems to have no continuity. In one scene it will be pixilated from one camera angle, and as soon as the angel changes it is unpixilated. I
don’t get it.

Then our tummies started to…. Hmm… rumble a bit. I went and spent some unpleasant time in the bathroom, but came out and was alright.

She was not so lucky…. She had contracted food poisoning. She spent numerous hours in the restroom vomiting up her dinner, then stomach fluid, then blood. I wish I could have gone though it for her, or helped in some way… but there is really nothing to do. I felt so bad for her… I stuck a teddy bear in a Ziploc baggy and gave it to her to give her some company… but even though teddy bears make most everything better… vomiting is always traumatic.

Anyway since that experience I skipped eating for a few more days until I found on the menu at the hotel’s cafĂ©… filet minion. They called it filet of beef, and had it hidden under the “grilled” section other than the steak section… so I ordered two of those… since Thai portions are… bite sized. Luckily, the waiter at the restraint spoke no more English than my old cat Morris, may he rest in peace, but was able to track down a woman who understood the concept of “rare.”

The steak came… and it was the best steak I had ever had. Omindjad. So amazingly good. Finally something I could eat. I had found food… foooooood! It was like finding water after wandering in a desert!

I think I will have another one for lunch… and maybe dinner tonight.

You would think that the food in Thailand would be good, as I love Thai food. I am sure it is good… but unless you are Thai or speak Thai… I see no way of getting at the tasty Thai food. I hope Japan is not the same, I really doubt it will be.
