Two steps back, one step forward.

According to CNN, a district court in Iowa has ruled that it is unlawful to deny same sex couples the right to marry.

The American Political Condition has been so depressing for so long now, that I am almost unable to properly enjoy even these small victories. However, I think we should hope for the best, and celebrate any progress twards equality.

When one group is opressed, nobody is free.

Now, I know that many people are taken aback by my position on same sex marraige. For me it is simple. In the eyes of the government, everything should be civial unions, same sex, or opposite sex couples alike. This should be added to the consitutional bill of rights. Something along the lines of any single citizen may enter into a domestic partnership with any other citizen.

That way the arch-religious groups can get off the asses of everyone else in the country. If their group doesnt want same sex marraiges, then fine, dont marry them in your church. If they dont want heterosexual marraiges, then dont marry them. If they dont want 50 year olds marrying 17 or 18 year olds, then dont marry them. If you dont want.

Its not that hard people. Its not a glitzy, but it would totally work.
